Volkswagen has long advocated the construction of fuel efficient vehicles, following its popular Beetle with its best-selling model, the Golf. During the years of pioneering work Volkswagen diesel technology has improved little car and is widely recognized as a leader in this field.

But diesel is not doing enough to reduce emissions, or by some customers what they want: the electrification of the automobile. This is how VW has adopted the technology of electric vehicles and the change will be introduced its first plug-in electric version in 2013.
